XTIVIA gathered a list of tips for those moving to Salesforce Lightning Experience. If not, why aren’t you?

Lightning Experience offers many features to enhance productivity, streamline operations, and facilitate faster app development. Here are some notable features:

Lightning Experience Home Page

The Home Page has the latest technology to help organize and focus your day with real-time data. Easily set up, add, and move components on your Home tab. For instance, the Quarterly Performance component provides salespeople with pertinent data on Closed Won and Open Opportunities and their quarterly performance toward sales goals.

The Einstein Platform includes generative and predictive AI, powerful tools for intelligent solutions for business cases. These AI techniques can help you analyze data, make predictions, and optimize processes. Whether you’re creating personalized recommendations, automating tasks, or improving decision-making, they cover a wide range of applications.

Admins can pre-configure these steps for the sales team, enabling them to see and act upon assigned leads immediately upon signing in without email alerts.

The My Tasks component has a new layout, making it easier to update, mark tasks as complete, and keep the sales team focused on their priorities.

Lightning Experience enables companies to customize home pages easily and create separate views for different user groups. For example, a Sales Manager’s view differs from an Individual Sales Rep or Service Rep.

The New Record Page, such as Contacts, has been redesigned to focus on actionable items like Activity, Chatter, and Related content. Customer data remains accessible under the Details tab. This layout minimizes the need to scroll, keeping essential information at a glance.

With Lightning Pages, you can move components around and create custom components to suit your users’ preferences, enhancing their experience with the Lightning platform1.

Lightning Path

The Lightning Path feature, formerly Sales Path, offers significant training benefits to help get your team up and running. Path supports all your sales processes. When you open an Opportunity, you’ll see a set of arrows representing the opportunity stages. Completed stages are marked with green arrows, and the current stage is highlighted in blue. Hovering over these arrows displays the number of days spent in each stage.

By leveraging these features, Salesforce Lightning Experience can transform your business operations, making them more efficient and intuitive for your team.

Salesforce Flow

Salesforce Flow is a powerful tool within the Salesforce platform that allows users to automate complex business processes using clicks instead of code. One key feature and component is Flow Builder, the main interface where you can create and manage your flows. It visually represents the flow, making designing and understanding the process easier. They perform assignments, decisions, loops, and data operations like querying the database or updating records. Connectors determine the path that the flow takes by connecting different elements. Resources are variables used within the flow, such as text strings, numbers, records, formulas, or collections.

These provide automated business processes, such as automating approval processes, sending notifications, or updating records based on specific criteria. It also includes data manipulation to perform complex data operations without writing code and integration connecting external systems and services to streamline workflows.

Salesforce Flow is highly versatile and can address various business needs, making it a valuable tool for administrators and developers.

Einstein Platform

Einstein Platform is a powerful new feature in Lightning Experience that can boost productivity by up to 50%. This AI-driven tool enhances your business’s ability to forecast future trends and customer buying patterns, thereby improving the efficiency of your sales, service, and marketing teams. You get the information your team needs with required responses by answering questions efficiently with knowledge and Generative AL. You can now tailor Einstein’s Work Summaries in Copilot. You can create summaries that align with your team’s requirements by incorporating your formatting rules or restrictions into the prompt template that guides Einstein’s responses. The enhanced account summary in Einstein Copilot now provides a comprehensive snapshot of an account, including account details, open cases, past purchases, current opportunities, and relevant interactions. It’s designed to offer more valuable information to users.

Users can now provide feedback on Copilot responses in Salesforce. When a user encounters an unhelpful response, they can select a thumbs down and specify a reason from the provided list. Additionally, they can enter a custom explanation if their reason needs to be covered. Users can give feedback in the Salesforce mobile app by long-pressing a system-generated response.

Lightning Experience Live Chatter Feed

In Lightning Experience, the Chatter Feed updates live within groups, showing posts and comments in real time without requiring a page refresh. Users can subscribe to group content and receive daily or weekly email summaries, consolidating all Chatter updates into a comprehensive email. This helps minimize email clutter and keeps users informed without overloading their inboxes.

When following updates in Salesforce, you’ll see information about feed comments, posts, and files in the Chatter groups you’re a member of. You’ll also see shared links, files, tasks, events, and converted leads. Record field changes include record owner modifications, closed opportunities, and cases.

These updates, also known as system-generated posts or feed-tracked changes, are automatically generated by Salesforce when someone creates a record or modifies a tracked field. The specific updates you see depend on your administrator’s feed-tracking configuration and your access to the relevant records. Tracked changes in the feed can be bundled together for easy reading.

Report Builder and Dashboards

Salesforce Lightning’s Report Builder enables fast and adaptable report creation with customizable formats, including options for grouping by rows and columns. You can organize reports with folders and sub-folders, run them without saving, and add dashboard components directly from the report. This enables you to answer business questions swiftly and display data graphically in charts.

Dashboards visually display key metrics and trends. They are composed of components that show data from individual reports. You can edit, add, move, and resize these components and change properties like chart type. Unlike Salesforce Classic, Lightning allows for custom-sized dashboard components, offering endless customization possibilities for a uniform dashboard view.

Lightning Experience Customization

Salesforce offers a range of customization features to enhance user management and record page functionality. Users can manage access more efficiently with summaries for user access, public groups, permission sets, and permission set groups. Lightning record page enhancements, such as blank space support and visibility rules on individual tabs, provide users with the information they need, precisely when and where they need it. Permissions and sharing are simplified with new summary pages, allowing access understanding in under five clicks, and user access policies are now generally available. The Lightning App Builder now features a Blank Space component, allowing you to customize field alignment on Dynamic Forms-enabled record pages.

Additionally, it includes visibility rules for showing or hiding individual tabs within a tab component. Globalization efforts continue with the enforcement of ICU Locale formats and the introduction of the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG) currency. General setup improvements include Einstein for Formulas, which helps explain formulas and fix syntax errors, and a new custom field creation wizard step to automatically add new custom fields to Dynamic Forms-enabled record pages. Additionally, users with only the Manage Public List Views permission are now blocked from seeing roles and role hierarchies when editing public list views.

Enable LWC Stacked Modals

As part of Salesforce’s internal migration from Aura to LWC (Lightning Web Components), more models in Lightning Experience are now rendered using LWC. This update enhances performance, mainly when dealing with numerous fields in a record create or edit modal. Additionally, you can utilize Dynamic Forms within a modal opened from a “Create from Lookup” field on most LWC-enabled record pages.

CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) Feature and Invoicing

The CPQ feature, fully integrated into Salesforce Lightning, streamlines the process of creating proposals and contracts. It enables the sales team to handle deals efficiently, get rebate approvals, and gather signature approvals without leaving Salesforce.

With an Improved clean-up process for invoice runs, the status of invoice lines is updated to “Canceled.” Additionally, the enhanced error logs better distinguish between invoice run and clean-up errors.
